The 4-H County Extension Educator is a professional staff role within UGA Cooperative Extension responsible for delivering the 4-H program in the assigned county. The incumbent will manage both 4-H education delivery and Extension program administration, develop techniques and procedures, work cooperatively with Extension faculty and staff, and report to the County Extension Coordinator and District Extension Director.
Responsibilities- Deliver in‑school 4‑H programming to enrolled 4‑H members.
- Conduct in‑school club meetings each month, promote 4‑H events, and deliver Georgia Professional Standards‑based curriculum.
- Study and review program evaluations, modify/revise future programs and delivery techniques to meet the needs of 4‑H clientele.
- Develop efficient procedures for managing youth (sign‑up procedures, paperwork, parent relations, on‑site supervision, and counseling for County youth attending camp).
- Work with home‑school 4‑H club members to ensure equal opportunities as afforded the 4‑H club members enrolled in the local school system.
- Assist 4‑H club members with preparation for competitive events (project achievement, judging teams, etc.).
- Temporarily conduct County 4‑H Agent duties during prolonged absence.
- Involve in all aspects of event planning for 4‑H (annual 4‑H Awards Banquet).
- Identify, recruit, and train 4‑H volunteers for planning, teaching, and evaluating Cooperative Extension 4‑H programs.
- Assist volunteers with successful completion of the 4‑H Chaperone Training (Archery Team, Shotgun Team, Horse Club, Show Teams).
- Make reports to clientele, staff, Board of Education, Board of Commissioners, and public officials through electronic mass media, personal contracts, and group meetings.
- Submit accurate, complete reports in a timely manner in Georgia Counts, 4‑H enrollment, and District office as required.
- Manage all 4‑H inventory and supplies, including fundraising and event items, demonstration development materials, and camp and club meeting supplies.
- At least a baccalaureate degree in the field.
- Good communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to work with a wide range of populations.
- Knowledge of Cooperative Extension 4‑H program activities.
- Physical ability to lift, stand, sit, drive, and work outside in seasonal weather conditions.
