The Odum School of Ecology invites applications for four tenure‑track Assistant Professor positions in Ecosystem Ecology. Two appointments focus on aquatic ecosystems (freshwater, marine, or wetland) and two focus on terrestrial ecosystems. Exceptional candidates may be considered for an Associate Professor appointment.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in ecology, including large‑enrollment, non‑major courses.
- Develop and sustain an extramurally funded research program that is nationally and internationally recognized.
- Engage in collaborative research, share instrumentation, and leverage existing strengths within the school and across campus units.
- Utilize UGA-affiliated field sites and analytical/computational facilities to advance research objectives.
- Contribute to teaching excellence through the use of active learning methods and a student‑centered philosophy.
- Ph.D. in Ecology or a related field.
- Demonstrated record of scholarship, synergistic activities, and potential to maintain an active, externally funded research program.
- Expertise in ecosystem ecology, including biogeochemical cycles, land‑atmosphere interactions, pollutant cycling, microbial processes, and ecosystem resilience under global change.
- Broad experience with field work, laboratory methodologies, computational or theoretical methods; prior postdoc work is preferred.
