Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Large Animal Surgery
The Department of Large Animal Medicine, College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia is seeking a clinical‑track faculty member at the rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The candidate will join the daytime elective large animal surgery service and will contribute to clinical instruction, service, and scholarly activities.
Position Summary• Serve on the large animal surgery service (approx. 65–70% of the year), primarily daytime elective cases with occasional after‑hours duty.
• Supervise house officers and students, participate in clinical rotations, and provide didactic and laboratory instruction.
• Develop and deliver continuing education programs for veterinarians and the public.
• Engage in collaborative scholarly activities related to clinical service and teaching; independent research is encouraged but not required.
- Provide clinical service on the large animal surgery service.
- Supervise residents, interns, and students during caseloads.
- Participate in didactic courses, laboratory sessions, and rotations.
- Develop and deliver veterinary continuing education programs.
- Engage in scholarly work and contribute to publications.
- DVM or equivalent from an accredited veterinary college.
- Completed residency in Large Animal Surgery (minimum 4 years post‑DVM).
- Board certified or eligible for board certification in large animal surgery.
- Minimum of 9 years post‑DVM experience for Associate Professor; minimum of 14 years for Professor (at least 5 years at the prior rank). For Assistant Professor, 4 years of residency is required.
- Valid Georgia veterinary license (regular or faculty).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with large animals and in varied clinical settings.
