Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on all Pitkin County buildings, facilities, and equipment.
Level I- Performs routine and preventative maintenance; responds to emergencies as required.
- Moves and repairs office furniture.
- Maintains and repairs plumbing and plumbing fixtures; unclogs drains.
- Repairs and replaces light bulbs and fixtures.
- Troubleshoots and repairs a variety of equipment.
- Assists other Technicians and County staff as needed.
- Supports the relationship between Pitkin County government and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work‑related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
- Inspects all buildings for safety and maintenance and repair needs.
- Monitors and maintains smoke detectors and fire extinguishers.
- Monitors and assists contractors as needed.
- Level I:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Up to 1 year experience with construction, building maintenance, or a skilled trade.
- Must possess the skills of basic plumbing, general electrical knowledge, ability to use power and hand tools and advanced powered equipment such as snow machines and power brooms.
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
- Level III (in addition to Level I):
- 3 plus years of experience with construction, building maintenance, or a skilled trade.
- Safety policies, procedures, and practices for basic construction industry standards.
- Inventory management methods and practices.
- Personal protective equipment and proper use.
- Equipment troubleshooting methods.
- General maintenance practice and procedures.
- Understand the order of operation of the equipment used in our facilities.
- Organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines and accomplish tasks.
- Handling multiple tasks simultaneously, under pressure, and in emergency and stressful situations.
- Microsoft Office Products.
- Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Operating tools and equipment safely.
- Work is performed in a standard office environment and throughout County grounds and facilities. May be exposed to inclement weather conditions, potentially dangerous tools and machinery, and hazardous cleaning chemicals.
