• Hiring Range:
The hiring range covers the starting segment of the pay scale, from the entry point up to the first quartile (Q1). Starting pay is determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
• Salary Range:
The salary range reflects the full pay range for the position, from the minimum rate to the maximum rate. This represents the earning potential employees can achieve over time while in the role.
Up to $3,000 Sign On Bonus May Be Available

Police Officer ClassificationsPolice Officer I: 0–1 year of experience. The Police Department will send the candidate to the police academy and cover all associated costs.
Police Officer II: 2–3 years of law enforcement experience.
Police Officer III: 3 or more years of law enforcement experience.

- Hiring Range: $37.00/hour - $41.63/hour
- Salary Range: $37.00/hour - $55.51/hour
Police Officer II
- Hiring Range: $40.33/hour - $45.38/hour
- Salary Range: $40.33/hour - $60.50/hour
Police Officer III
- Hiring Range: $43.96/hour - $49.46/hour
- Salary Range: $43.96/hour - $65.95/hour

Overview: The Aspen Police Department is looking for individuals who want to positively impact the community. This position provides opportunities to train in various Law Enforcement and Public Safety courses to attain POST certification; lateral transfer applicants are considered.
Position Summary: Attends and completes training to attain a Police Officer I or II position, including POST Certification, aligned with the organization’s values and mission.
Supervision: Under the general supervision of the Field Training Sergeant.

Essential Job FunctionsAcademy: Attends and participates in classes at a Colorado police academy to attain a POST Certificate.
Patrol (Academy): In the Field Training Program, develops proficiency in supporting the Department’s mission, responding to incidents, enforcing laws, engaging with the public, and contributing to department goals.
