Sinclair Building Architecture Design (SIN-BAD) is a design-build firm located in Basalt, CO that specializes in custom luxury residences and remodels in Aspen, CO. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to support our project managers, architects, and field teams. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in residential construction who is eager to grow into a more senior project management or pre-construction role.

Because our firm is small, the Project Engineer will gain broad exposure to estimating, budgeting, design coordination, construction administration, and field operations. You will work closely with our design-build team to support the successful delivery of multiple ongoing projects.

  • Residential Construction: 1-3 years of experience (Preferred)
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university with major course work in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Business Administration, and/or a related field (Required)
Essential Functions:
  • Assist with estimating and bidding new projects through quantity takeoffs, subcontractor outreach, and scope reviews.
  • Support development and tracking of project budgets; assist with monitoring costs and updating logs.
  • Help prepare and maintain project schedules and coordinate updates with internal teams and subcontractors.
  • Issue and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and meeting minutes.
  • Support contract administration, including preparing subcontractor agreements and reviewing documentation for completeness.
  • Assist with ordering materials and coordinating with vendors based on production and lead times.
  • Participate in site walks to track progress, document conditions, and support quality control efforts.
  • Support permit applications, inspection coordination, and compliance with applicable building codes.
  • Help review vendor and subcontractor invoices and identify any discrepancies.
  • Maintain strong and timely communication with on-site team members, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Contribute to preliminary estimating and basic pricing exercises to support leadership and business development.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to track numerous tasks simultaneously.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities with enthusiasm and attention to detail.
  • Sound judgment and willingness to ask questions, escalate issues, and learn continuously.
Qualifications:
  • Practical construction knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and plans.
  • Strong command of the entire Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Proven ability to reliably meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to resolve supplier/vendor issues.
  • Ability to understand and follow all safety requirements deemed by OSHA and company safety policies, as well as complete necessary safety training.
  • Commitment to company excellence and high standards of conduct and professionalism.
Additional Desired

Skills:
  • Preferred experience in custom or luxury single-family construction.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Build, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
  • Fluent or conversational in Spanish.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform occasional physical tasks on-site.
  • Ability to complete detailed reports, calculate basic figures, and interpret codes and technical documents.
  • Comfort working on active construction sites with noise, weather exposure, and varying conditions.
