Entry Level Telecom Laborer

Entry-Level Telecom Laborer An entry-level field position supporting underground and aerial telecom construction projects through hands‑on labor, equipment operation, and site preparation. This role is ideal for someone who wants to build a long‑term career in telecommunications and is willing to travel for work.

The Telecom Laborer works as part of a field crew to install and maintain telecom infrastructure. Work is performed outdoors in varying conditions and requires travel to job sites up to 5 days per week. You’ll assist with digging, conduit installation, vegetation control, and general site preparation while learning industry tools, equipment, and safety practices.

• Operate basic and skilled equipment to support field construction tasks
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment
• Complete manual labor duties including digging, trenching, and ground preparation
• Lay conduit according to project specifications and safety standards
• Perform weed eating, trimming, and vegetation management around work sites
• Follow all safety procedures and participate in required safety training
  
  Work under the direction of a Foreman or Crew Lead
• Support the crew with additional tasks to ensure efficient project completion
• Travel to various job sites up to 5 days per week

• General labor experience or willingness to perform physical work
• Interest in telecom, cable, fiber optic, or construction fields
• Ability to learn and use hand tools, power tools, and basic equipment
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to travel
• Ability to work outdoors and in physically demanding environments

• Exposure to coax or fiber optic installation
• Experience in construction, utilities, or related trades

• Entry‑level; no prior telecom experience required
• Must be self‑sufficient, motivated, and eager to learn
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ashland, VA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
