Job Title: Director of Information Technology (IT)
Reports to: VP of Finance, Marmon Fastener Company
Location: Based at one of the Marmon Fastener Company locations (travel required)
Position SummaryThe Director of Information Technology for the Marmon Fastener Company will serve as a key leader responsible for directing IT strategy, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and end-user technology across all Marmon Fastener brands and business units. This leader will ensure secure, reliable, and scalable systems that support manufacturing, distribution, and office operations while enabling business growth, operational efficiency, and acquisition integration. The Director will oversee IT operations, vendor partners, budgets, systems governance, and technology projects, partnering cross-functionally to deliver measurable service levels and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Strategic IT Leadership- Develop and execute the IT strategy and roadmap aligned with company goals, including standardization across brands and sites.
- Partner with the President and leadership team to evaluate technology investments, business risks, acquisition integration needs, and long-term scalability.
- Establish IT governance, policies, and standards (security, access controls, system lifecycle management, and technology usage).
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations across locations including networks, servers, cloud services, endpoints, telecom, collaboration tools, and plant/warehouse connectivity.
- Ensure uptime and performance for multi-shift operations, leading incident response, root-cause analysis, and service improvements.
- Lead IT service delivery (helpdesk/ticketing, onboarding/offboarding, asset management, and site support expectations) with clear SLAs and escalation pathways.
- Own the cybersecurity program including identity management (MFA/SSO), endpoint protection, patching, vulnerability management, email security, and security awareness.
- Maintain strong disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including backup strategy and periodic testing.
- Ensure alignment with Marmon/Berkshire Hathaway technology and security expectations; support audits and required assessments.
- Provide oversight and partnership for ERP and key business applications (manufacturing/distribution systems, reporting/BI, integrations, and EDI where applicable).
- Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Sales, and HR to streamline workflows through automation and system optimization.
- Promote strong data integrity, role-based access, and scalable reporting capabilities across the organization.
- Lead IT project planning and execution including scope, resourcing, vendor coordination, timelines, change management, and stakeholder communication.
- Prioritize IT demand across the organization using transparent intake, triage, and governance to balance operational needs with strategic initiatives.
- Develop business cases and ROI justifications for major initiatives; track and report progress and outcomes.
- Manage the IT budget forecasting, and cost controls, ensuring efficient and accountable spend.
- Oversee vendor relationships including MSPs, cybersecurity partners, telecom providers, hardware/software suppliers, and implementation consultants.
- Negotiate contracts and renewals, drive performance expectations, and reduce total cost of ownership through standard platforms and controls.
- Manage, coach, and develop a high-performing IT team across locations (internal staff and contracted resources as needed).
- Drive a culture of service excellence, accountability, documentation discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain IT talent to meet the needs of a growing and operationally complex organization.
- Serve as the primary IT liaison to Marmon corporate resources and cross-functional leaders within MFC.
- Communicate technology risks, priorities, and progress clearly to business leaders and plant/site leadership teams.
- Ensure end-user adoption and satisfaction through consistent communication, training, and support.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 10–15 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Proven track record of success supporting multi-site operations (manufacturing environments strongly preferred).
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity best practices, identity/access management, endpoint/device management, and IT service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels and operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.
