Position: UR COORDINATOR

Oak Plains Academy (a UHS company) located on 20 acres of rolling hills in a rural setting, about 45 minutes from Nashville, Tennessee, offers psychiatric residential treatment services to children and adolescents struggling with emotional and behavioral issues. The campus features a full-size gymnasium, separate academic building, and four dormitories. Our wooded grounds provide excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation such as fishing, hiking, softball, and basketball.

Responsibilities

We are seeking people who want to make a difference as a Utilization Review Coordinator
, ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of our youth. The ideal candidate will be patient, accepting, and compassionate, with a true desire to help children. The coordinator must adhere to strict guidelines for supervision of the youth and manage and facilitate a continuum of service while promoting positive outcomes and optimal reimbursement. Responsibilities include coordinating patient care, performing daily clinical reviews, ensuring quality documentation, handling appeals and reporting, supervising UR team members, and completing discharge practices for patients and families upon discharge.

Requirements

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, social work, psychology, health information management or another related healthcare field is preferred with at least two years of psychiatric experience in chart analysis and utilization review.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of third‑party reimbursement and processes involved in re‑establishing benefits when unexpectedly terminated; experience prioritizing review processes within a managed care environment; experience interpreting admission and continued‑stay criteria to advocate for appropriate maintenance of benefits.
  • Demonstrated experience in admission and discharge functions and ability to discuss current psychopathology with BHO reviewers, utilizing integrated clinical knowledge of Axis I diagnoses to support evidence‑based documentation.
  • 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
  • Flexible schedule.
