Arcosa Marine Products is searching for an Environmental Science Technician
, based in our Ashland City, TN plant.
The Environmental Science Technician is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations, managing environmental data, conducting assessments, and implementing environmental programs within manufacturing operations at several sites across multiple states. This role involves analyzing environmental data, preparing reports, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to maintain a safe and environmentally responsible working environment.
What You’ll Do- Stay current with multi‑state regulations and ensure the manufacturing operations adhere to all applicable environmental and safety standards.
- Conduct regular assessments to verify compliance with environmental regulations (Air, Waste, Stormwater, Wastewater, & other related regulations).
- Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data related to air quality, water quality, noise levels, and other relevant parameters.
- Utilize statistical tools and software to identify trends and track regulatory obligations.
- Conduct environmental assessments and audits leading to the implementation of BMPs to minimize the impact of operations on the environment.
- Collaborate with operations teams to implement sustainable practices and reduce environmental risks.
- Effectively track regulatory and corporate due dates for reporting and permit renewals, to meet deadlines with sufficient time to facilitate review and timely submittal of information.
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive reports on environmental data, compliance status, and corrective actions taken.
- Maintain detailed records of environmental monitoring activities, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Assist in the development and implementation of environmental management programs and initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to establish and maintain effective environmental practices and procedures.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, internal stakeholders, and external consultants to address environmental concerns and coordinate inspections.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on environmental regulations, safety protocols, and best practices.
- Communicate environmental policies and procedures to employees, ensuring a clear understanding of their roles in maintaining compliance.
- Ensure design projects comply with environmental and health regulations.
- Review environmental regulations, and determine whether they’re being applied properly.
- Report environmental incidents to management, including mishaps such as internal spills, external releases, potential permit non‑compliances, and upcoming regulatory inspections.
- Lead or support the preparation and negotiation of various environmental permit applications.
- Interface with different regulatory agencies, prepare needed documentation, schedule required testing, and provide any necessary follow‑up documentation.
- Serve as a technical advisor on environmental policies and standards to ensure regulatory applicability.
- Monitor waste storage programs across all sites and ensure waste streams are managed in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.
- Provide support for a range of environmental management needs.
- Research regulatory compliance requirements that impact company operations.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability programs, and when needed, recommend changes to close strategic gaps.
- At least two years of safety/environmental and training experience required, in an industrial or shipyard environment is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree within the field of environmental, health, and safety or similar study is preferred.
- Background in cross‑site management of environmental programs and policies.
- The ability to positively communicate with all members of management, employees, vendors, and customers.
- Listen to others with an open mind while seeking appropriate resolutions, and follow‑up.
- Maintaining professionalism and composure under demanding situations and timelines.
- Strong organizational skills pertaining to records regarding training, documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to multi‑task.
- Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills.
- Must have strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, environmental monitoring equipment, and software applications.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations specific to marine facilities and manufacturing.
- Knowledge of EPA, DNR, and other local, state, and federal regulations.
- Must have ability to maintain confidentiality.
