Job Summary

PRN CVOR Registered Nurse position at Mission Hospital, Asheville, NC. Opportunity to join a fast‑paced operating room performing open‑heart and thoracic surgeries. No transplant, robotic, or pediatric procedures.

Bi‑weekly PRN schedule, 2‑6 shifts per pay period. Weekend and holiday call required; on‑call during select non‑business hours.

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery and provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri‑operative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification protocols, including briefing, time‑out, debriefing, and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies and deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care while managing evidence‑based practices.
• Collaborate as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team of providers, surgeons, and surgical technologists.
• Apply the nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor throughout the shift, and document changes and care provided thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up measures.

• Required:
  
  1+ years of CVOR nursing experience.
• Required
  
  Education:
  
  Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enrollment in a BSN program with completion within 5 years. RNs with 10+ years of experience are exempt from the BSN requirement.
• Preferred Education:
  
  Master’s in Nursing.
• Preferred Certification:
  National certification in the area of specialty.
• Required License:
  Current registered nurse license with the North Carolina Board of Nursing; eNLC license may apply.

  Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
