Join the HCA Nurse Residency Program at Mission Health, Asheville, North Carolina. This paid residency supports the transition from nursing school to certified, full‑time RN practice with a focus on spine trauma care.
Job OverviewThe program combines hands‑on clinical training, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship, simulation, mentoring, and an evidence‑based practice project. Residents coordinate patient‑centered care, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, and serve as patient and family advocates.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting changes.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
- Document administration of care in the medical record promptly and thoroughly.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient response, and intervene as necessary.
- Deliver responsive, compassionate care, anticipating patient needs and resolving them proactively.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow‑up, translating complex terminology for understanding.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
- Additional certifications may be required during employment.
- Associate, Bachelor’s, or higher degree in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse license or Graduate Nurse status in the state of employment.
