Position Summary:The Regional Team Lead (RTL) will oversee the long-term recovery staff and operations within their assigned region within the Western North Carolina Conference. This role will direct, coordinate, and assign the work of a locally based team, including Disaster Case Managers, Construction Coordinators, and Site Managers. The RTL will be responsible for developing a cohesive working team that partners with survivors to help them reach their recovery goals.
The RTL will engage with local networks and partners and participate in local Long-term Recovery Groups (LTRGs).
Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000
Responsibilities and Qualifications- A commitment of the nature and mission of the Church
- Possess High School Diploma or equivalent
- Maintain ethical conduct in accordance with organizational policy
- Operate in a manner consistent with WNCCUMC’s mission, values, and policies
- Available to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends
- Able to work without close supervision on assigned duties, and willing to seek and accept supervision as needed
- Able to problem solve, think strategically, and coordinate multiple work styles and requirements
- Able to hold team members accountable in positive, constructive ways that promote personal responsibility, foster personal success, and encourage job performance improvement
- Able to work calmly and effectively to resolve conflicts in sensitive situations

- Able to maintain appropriate client/survivor and staff boundaries
- Able to maintain high standards for protecting survivor information, and sharing confidential information only as agreed upon by the survivor and as evidenced by a signed release form
- Possess excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills, e.g.:
- Interviewing and listening skills
- Digital Documentation and Data Management skills
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Cultural competence relevant to the population served
- Able to utilize word processing, database, and spreadsheet software and demonstrate ability to learn new and/or customized software
- Ability to be organized and prepared for reports, meetings, briefings and conversations with survivors, staff, and external partners
- Possess genuine care and respect for individuals, families, and communities served
- Possess an awareness of the impact of the disaster on the community, family, and survivors, and the subsequent needs
- Active membership in a United Methodist Church is preferred, but not required.
- Applicant should possess no outside business interest that may conflict with the client/survivor or the organization’s goals and objectives
- Upon hiring:
- Safety screening as evidenced by a background & driving record check
- Completion of the UMCOR disaster case management training
- Completion of Safe Sanctuary child and youth protection training
- Guide and direct the work of the disaster recovery staff in your region, ensuring they understand their role and empowering them to perform the essential functions of their job while demonstrating compassion and sensitivity for survivors
- Ensure all recovery staff work in partnership with each other and survivors.
- Assign client cases to Disaster Case Managers based on availability in disaster case managers caseload and location of survivors.
- Consult with Disaster Case Managers to answer questions, brainstorm solutions, and ensure survivor needs are met to the best of the WNCCUMC Disaster Ministries' ability.
- Review and assess case files to determine eligibility for funding and compliance with the Disaster Ministry standards based on funder requirements.
- Engage regional recovery staff in regular times of confidential sharing and debriefing to assist with healthy emotional and spiritual responses to the work and maintain appropriate boundaries.
