Operations Manager
Position Purpose
A versatile position within a dynamic nonprofit that helps communities recover after disasters and gets children back in school. This position is full-time and is responsible for overseeing and implementing the scopes of work on- program and managing the field team.
Reporting Relationships- Reports to Program Director
- Roles reporting to position Construction Site Coordinator(s), Logistics Coordinator, and Construction Site Supervisor Trainees
- Approximate number of reports 3-5
- Develop and monitor scopes of work and project timeline, queue, budget and quality
- Ensure all program tracking systems related to projects are updated regularly and maintained and use data to compile regular reports
- Deliver project targets and/or grant requirements within the approved time and budget constraints
- Establish and uphold clear safety practices for project sites in collaboration with Site Coordinator(s), Site Supervisors and Site Supervisor Trainees
- Support in the development, implement, and review of program emergency procedures and safety and security protocols
- Effectively manage a diverse team to meet the needs of the affected community and empower them to carry out their functions effectively and efficiently
- Ensure compliance with legal, donor, and safety requirements for projects
- Oversee training of Site Supervisors and Site Supervisor trainees
- Identify and prepare for potential surges in volunteer numbers to ensure consistent engagement in projects
- Work with local partners to foster collaboration in support of projects
- Identify and manage subcontractors as needed on a project by project basis
- Financial responsibility includes oversight of site materials and tool purchases.

- Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Related Experience 2+ years experience overseeing residential remodeling/ construction. Experience in leading teams of volunteers in a post disaster environment or similar setting preferred.
- Special Competencies/Certifications Valid driver’s license required. Good written and oral communication skills and confident working in Google Workspace, particularly Google Docs and Google Sheets; and Microsoft Office. Good listener, capable of being compassionate and understanding with homeowners, staff, volunteers and the community. Applicant must be well organized and have a flexible approach to managing multiple tasks and prioritizing them appropriately. Must be able to manage a large workload and perform in a fast‑paced environment.
Conditions and Physical Demands
- Constantly works in outdoor adverse weather conditions
- Frequently moves items weighing up to 40 lbs on work site or on base
- Frequently operates construction equipment (table saws, impact drivers, drills, and more)
- Frequently operates computer
- Frequently ascends/descends ladders and scaffolding
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
- Frequent travel
- Living in communal environment

- Compensation:
Typical starting salary is $18.00-$20.00 per hour, and up to $22.00 per hour for highly qualified candidates who have previous experience in this role. - Room & board included
