Job Summary And QualificationsThe Billing Specialist is responsible for oversight of the revenue cycle as it relates to held or unprocessed claims to accomplish revenue collection goals. This position analyzes and responds to revenue and billing reports as well as internal processes and recommends strategies to maximize collections. The Billing Specialist demonstrates knowledge of governmental regulations and an exceptional understanding of insurance and coordination of benefits.
Essential Accountabilities:
- Daily monitoring of accounts receivable and billing audit reports to include billing notes, orders management; face to face process, and unverified visits.
- Effectively communicate with program leadership to inform of progress toward timely collections as well as constraints, barriers and bottlenecks.
- Research bottlenecks, constraints and barriers and works with program leadership to quickly find solutions.
- Monitors insurance approval/denial trends and makes recommendations to program leadership on areas for improvement
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of the various practice and health facility management systems applicable to the work assignment.
- Demonstrates knowledge of regulations, leading to effective collections through compliance with Conditions of Participation for timely payment.
- Effectively train and educate staff, including program leadership on new processes, changing regulations and new processes to resolve barriers, constraints and bottlenecks.
- Follows HCA Ethics and Compliance policies. Adheres to the HCA Code of Conduct. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules, regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Health Administration, or related field
Preferred Education:
Master’s Degree
Required Experience:
3+ years of progressive experience in a business / finance setting
Preferred Experience:
Previous experience in home health and/or hospice setting
