The Medical Assistant II (MA II) needs to have the ability and presence to communicate with people of various diverse backgrounds, ensuring all patients are treated in a sensitive and compassionate way. You will be a supportive and integral member of the clinical care team by primarily assisting the Clinical Pharmacist Practitioners (CPPs).
The MA II is based at our
257 Biltmore Avenue
but they may provide services as needed at our additional health clinics.
MJHC is only open during the day, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm.
Employees are not required to work evenings, nights, weekends or WNCCHS observed holidays.
Experience- At least one year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in an outpatient health care setting.
- Experience in a clinic setting with in‑house pharmacy services and/or clinical pharmacy services preferred.
- Experience documenting patient care in an electronic health record. OCHIN Epic experience preferred.
- Engage patients prior to provider visit, prepare and set expectations. (i.e., make robust confirmation calls)
- Plan for any necessary services or steps required in the clinic (e.g. flu vaccine, blood draw)
- Ensure efficient patient flow by preparing for the visit, rooming patients in a timely manner, obtaining and documenting vital signs, chief complaints, health histories, medication lists, and allergies in the electronic health record (EHR) and assisting the provider with staying timely on their schedule.
- Communicate patient needs to the provider and care team.
- Collect phlebotomy and other lab specimens and perform basic waived lab tests.
- Perform preventative and chronic disease management patient screenings per protocols.
- Additional potential duties when supporting Clinical Pharmacist Practitioners: review incoming referrals to clinical pharmacy and schedule initial and follow‑up visits with the CPPs
- Monitor and order supplies, place orders as needed, stock exam rooms and check for expired medications and supplies.
- Perform routine equipment checks and adhere to infection prevention and safety protocols.
- Support compliance with organizational policies as well as regulatory requirements, including OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA.
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred, but not required
- Certified Medical Assistant, required
- Basic Life Support Certificate, required
