Job Description:
- The Phlebotomist II provides high-quality patient services by collecting blood specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and a positive patient experience.
- This role requires strong technical skills, customer focus, and the ability to work in multiple locations as needed.
- Ability to provide accurate and error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver s license, if applicable.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- One to three years of phlebotomy experience including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Two years of experience in a patient service center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Experience with keyboarding and data entry.
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and professional work environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials or signature post-collection to confirm proper labeling.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy.
- Phlebotomy and specimen collection.
- Patient communication and customer service.
- Documentation and record-keeping.
- Time management and multitasking.
- Adaptability and problem-solving.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
