We’re supporting a highly advanced energy and industrial technology organisation in their search for a Controls Engineer to play a key role in the design, implementation, and commissioning of complex control systems within a regulated environment.
This position sits at the heart of plant automation, supporting process equipment, gas handling systems, and site wide infrastructure. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and technical teams to deliver safe, reliable, and high performance control solutions across a mission critical programme.

What You’ll Do- Design and implement control system solutions to support ongoing technology development and plant operations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to define automation strategies for process equipment and supporting systems
- Program and configure PLC based control systems for industrial applications
- Lead commissioning, testing, and validation of control systems to ensure functional and operational compliance
- Integrate equipment level control systems into a broader plant wide architecture
- Develop control strategies based on process narratives, system requirements, and safety constraints
- Design and optimise operator facing HMIs to enable safe and efficient plant operation
- Ensure operational and reliability data is captured, stored, and structured appropriately
- Produce detailed control system documentation to support procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance
- Maintain design records and test documentation in line with regulatory and safety analysis requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- Active high level federal security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one
- Strong hands on experience programming PLC based control systems
- Experience with Allen Bradley or Rockwell Automation platforms such as Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, and Factory Talk View
- Familiarity with control valves, pressure systems, and industrial field instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level devices
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and technical documentation
- Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Ether Net/IP, TCP/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, and serial communications
- Comfort working in a structured, highly regulated environment
- Willingness to support extended hours when required during commissioning or critical project phases
- Advanced control techniques such as cascaded loops, time proportioned control, or predictive control algorithms
- Experience with SCADA systems and industrial data historians
- Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity standards such as NIST SP 800 82 or ISA IEC 62443
- Experience designing high performance HMIs in collaboration with plant operators
- Background working in nuclear, defence, classified, or similarly regulated industrial settings
- $130,000 base salary depending on experience
- 10% annual performance bonus
