Buyer​/Senior Buyer - Connecticut​/North Carolina

A well-established heavy civil and infrastructure construction firm operating across the United States. The company delivers large-scale transportation and infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, and complex civil works, and is known for its strong safety culture, technical expertise, and long-term project portfolio.

The Buyer / Senior Buyer will support procurement activities for major heavy civil construction projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services. This role works closely with project and operations teams to align purchasing strategies with project schedules and budgets.

• Procure construction materials, equipment, and services for heavy civil infrastructure projects.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor quotations; perform cost and value analyses.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Issue and manage purchase orders in compliance with company policies and contract requirements.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Superintendents to support project needs.
• Track material costs, lead times, and supplier performance.
• Resolve procurement issues related to delivery, quality, or scope changes.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, safety standards, and internal procedures.
• Senior Buyer level: Support strategic sourcing initiatives and mentor junior procurement staff.

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Buyer: 3–5 years of procurement experience in construction or related industries.
• Senior Buyer: 6+ years of procurement experience, preferably in heavy civil or infrastructure construction.
• Experience sourcing materials and services for large construction projects.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Familiarity with ERP or procurement systems (SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle, or similar).
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
• Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
