About the Opportunity

We are representing a well-established, forward-thinking full-service engineering consulting firm with multiple offices across the Northeast. As part of their continued growth, they're seeking a MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Department Head with 10+ years of experience to lead their MEP division in the Asheville, NC area. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine technical expertise with business development and leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Department Leadership: Direct the strategic growth and day-to-day operations of the MEP department. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Project Oversight: Manage and oversee MEP projects from design through implementation, ensuring timely delivery, budget alignment, and exceptional quality.
• Technical Expertise: Act as the primary technical lead for MEP systems, ensuring best practices and regulatory compliance across all work.
• Resource & Budget Management: Allocate departmental resources effectively and monitor budgets, staffing, and scheduling to meet organizational goals.
• Client Engagement: Develop and maintain strong client relationships. Win new business with municipal and private sector clients throughout the region.
• Team Development: Mentor and guide MEP staff; support career development and encourage staying current with industry trends.
• Quality Assurance: Implement robust QA/QC practices to ensure all deliverables exceed industry and client expectations.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Coordinate work across departments and branch offices to streamline processes and project delivery.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven leadership experience within an MEP-focused engineering environment.
• Strong track record of winning and managing projects with public and private sector clients.
• Deep knowledge of local (NJ & PA) building codes, industry regulations, and MEP design standards.
• Experience managing remote teams and navigating matrixed organizations is a plus.
• Skilled in project management tools; familiarity with Deltek Vision software is a bonus.
• Strong communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related field).
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• PE (Professional Engineer) license required.
• Valid driver’s license.
