Position Overview
HCE is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to serve as a Project Manager. This role includes managing project scope, budgets, schedules, and client relationships, as well as mentoring staff and supporting business development efforts. The Project Manager will lead civil design projects from concept through construction while ensuring technical quality, financial performance, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Senior Project Manager in developing and maintaining client relationships, project budgets, and schedules.
- Manage the technical and financial performance of assigned projects.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear, accurate, and timely communication.
- Oversee the preparation, review, and delivery of high-quality engineering documents and deliverables.
- Monitor project schedules and adjust resources as necessary to ensure on-time delivery.
- Identify opportunities for additional services with existing clients and assist with proposals for new work.
- Participate in professional organizations, conferences, and industry events to support business development.
- Mentor and develop staff through on-the-job training, performance feedback, and project reviews.
- Communicate regularly with the Senior Project Manager regarding project status, technical challenges, staffing needs, and financial performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering (or related field).
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in civil engineering design, preferably with municipal water and wastewater projects.
- North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
