As part of our Water Business Group, you’ll help shape how communities manage water for generations to come—delivering safe drinking water, treating wastewater responsibly, developing sustainable water supplies, and protecting lives and property through flood control. Your work directly supports public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience.
We are looking for a Biosolids Project Lead to join our North Carolina Water Business Group. This position collaborates across HDR and teaming partners to develop solutions for clients, and delivers all aspects of biosolids projects from pursuit to delivery.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with HDR technical leaders, operations leaders, market sector directors, project managers, and project teams to deliver world class quality biosolids services.
- Participate in client relationship management, client presentations, conference presentations, and interviews.
- Actively engage with the local project teams and assist in Go/No-Go discussions, project risk assessments, SOQs, proposals, interviews, and negotiations as required.
- Participate in scope, schedule, and budget development for biosolids projects.
- Provide project delivery support including planning, engineering, technical consulting, design reviews, and construction services.
- Actively participate in WEF and NC One Water.
- Mentor and develop other employees.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Master’s degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or similar combination of relevant education and experience
- 10 years of biosolids water industry experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
- Strong leadership skills and project management experience with multiple national remote teams is preferred
- Proven experience managing projects, client relationships, proposal development, and business development
- Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving, and collaboration skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and conferencing platforms (Zoom, Web Ex, Teams, etc.)
- Familiar with estimating and scheduling software, project management software
- Ability to interact with various design professionals, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
- Current WEF and/or NC One Water involvement
- Local candidates or candidates willing to relocate are preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 7 years related experience
- A minimum 2 years project management experience
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example:
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. - MS Office and MS Project experience is required (Access experience would be plus)
- Demonstrated leadership skills
