Join to apply for the Commissioning Agent role  is looking for a Commissioning Agent to join our team in North Carolina. By mitigating risk, our Commissioning team gets building to work reliably. We manage and validate the commissioning of building engineering services from the earliest design stages through to the completion of complex integrated test procedures. Our approach includes the five strategic stages in commissioning modern buildings and provides a robust framework that supports forward looking, collaborative teamwork for all stakeholders.

This position is subject to a preemployment drug test.

• Acting as a key point of client contact.
• Making full use of the company's management systems in achieving the primary objective.
• Proactively progressing commissioning activities throughout the project cycle in conjunction with the General Contractor and vendors.
• Ensuring systems are set to work optimally and verified as such, in accordance with design requirements.
• Providing consultative advice in determining commissioning and performance requirements, strategies, programs, scopes of work, and test scripts.
• Mentoring junior staff.
• Delivering the project in full accordance with our appointment, including technical and commercial compliance.
• Commercially managing project changes.
• Being accountable for the quality of service, delivery, and client expectations.
• Providing compliance with project-related safety as it relates to our work.
• Providing positive and effective leadership and setting an example to other team members.
• Providing feedback for staff appraisals.
• Assisting in developing the Company's management systems and processes.
• Working closely with many different members of a construction project team.
• Thinking clearly, remaining focused, and leading construction delivery staff during fast-moving periods of complex site activity.

• A commissioning professional as certified by an accredited agency
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Professional Engineer preferred
• Federal Government commissioning experience
• Commissioning certification preferred (CxA, CCP, BCxP, or CBCP)
• LEED AP or LEED Associate
• Management/Commissioning Management
• Technical expertise in one or more specific areas
• Proficiency in HVAC load calculation software such as Trace or IES
• Preference given to local candidates

• A minimum of 4 years of industry experience dealing with mechanical, electrical and controls disciplines
• Proven ability to lead commissioning efforts from design through project completion
• Passion for sustainability and knowledge of the commissioning process; experience with design, installation and operation of building systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, controls)
• Willingness to travel to site-based locations as reasonably required by HDR
• Ability to troubleshoot HVAC, TAB, and Controls and strong report writing skills
• Understanding of operational requirements, safety requirements, code inspections and maintenance considerations
• Strong written, verbal communication and time management skills; interpersonal skills; ability to interact with people at all levels
• Technical knowledge of MEP systems and HVAC
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Multitasking ability
• Valid driver's license
• Active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture
