Geotechnical Engineer; Nashville

Geotechnical Engineer (Nashville) at Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc.

Base pay range: $75,000 – $95,000 per year.

Salary will be discussed with the manager during the interview based on experience.

• Provide geotechnical engineering guidance for due diligence, investigation, impact assessment, improvement, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector. Tasks may include research, design, analysis, planning, and construction of roads, buildings, tunnels, dams, canals, levees, bridges, airports, water supply systems, underground storage, and sewage treatment.
• Perform basic professional geotechnical engineering work related to research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, soil erosion, lateral earth pressures, geological hazards, underground water, and slope stability for commercial, industrial, building, infrastructure, and transportation projects.
• Lead field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and prepare and review related reports.
• Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on design and construction issues involving rock and soil mechanics, subsurface and geological conditions to design and build foundations, earth structures, and pavement sub‑grades.
• Write technical reports summarizing research findings, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, and software.
• Develop work plans and coordinate field/site work and laboratory testing.
• Provide support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to RFI, and contract document clarifications.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT preferred
• 5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
• Ability to prepare complete, concise, and organized engineering calculations and reports
• Proficiency in geotechnical software including gINT, Slope/W, Seep/W, APILE, LPILE, GRLWeap, Settle3D (or other settlement software)
• Ability to travel to project sites and access all construction site points in varied climates and environmental conditions
• Valid driver’s license and insurability
• Good verbal and written communication skills

• Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
• Ability to carry instruments and equipment
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
• Work may involve variable climate and environmental conditions, including extreme cold and heat
