Warren Wilson College seeks creative, innovative, and student-centered applicants for an extended contract faculty Instruction and Engagement Librarian position in the Pew Learning Center & Ellison Library (PLC) beginning July 1, 2026.
The Pew Learning Center & Ellison Library (PLC), housing Ellison Library and the College Archives, serves as the intellectual crossroads of campus where dedicated staff members, incredible student work crews, and diverse physical and digital information resources support our campus community by facilitating learning and inspiring discovery. Warren Wilson students showcase their learning via a wide range of oral, written, and multimedia formats that have included podcasts, community-engaged research, creative writing, and more.

Description
This library faculty member will develop, lead, and assess the PLC’s Research and Instruction program through the implementation and delivery of course-related information literacy instruction. In collaboration with library colleagues and faculty across all departments, the person in this position will embed information literacy skill-building into departmental curriculum and assignments and will have the opportunity to engage with students throughout their academic career, from orientation through the first year experience to senior level capstone work.
This librarian will have a familiarity with innovative pedagogy, research methodologies, and new and evolving technologies, including library and research related AI applications, on a level that will enable them to advance information literacy skills and deepen library research support to faculty and students. The librarian in this position will develop and implement tools and methods of assessing library-related student learning and faculty collaborations and as well as the engagement of both groups.
This librarian will be called upon to be an enthusiastic supporter and promoter of general library resources and services, and they will flourish in this role if they have cultivated the skills of adaptability, open-mindedness, and optimism in the face of ever-changing library services and technology. In addition, all faculty are expected to demonstrate their continued contributions to the evolving practices of librarianship, scholarship, and/or creative activity and to engage in collegial institutional service and professional development.

Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and lead an innovative, scaffolded information literacy program centered around course-integrated classroom instruction using best practices in inclusive pedagogy for information literacy instruction; teach the majority of the sessions and workshops in collaboration with faculty partners.
- Serve as the library’s central point of contact for research support services and coordinate the research assistance calendar and appointment scheduling tools.
- Proactively engage current and future users by advertising and promoting library resources and services both via traditional means like workshops and direct instruction and forward-looking methodologies such as embedded librarianship and social media marketing.
- Establish and cultivate relationships with faculty to support their own scholarship and to collaborate with them on curricular development and assignment design.
- Create and teach workshops and tutorials that support professional development for faculty around the topics of information literacy, digital literacy, and AI applications.
