DENTAL ASSISTANT – Full Time (40 hours)

- Prepare the operatories for delivery of dental treatment.
- Assist the dentist with all dental procedures (taking alginate impressions, suctioning patients, handing instruments, constructing and cementing temporary crowns, packing gingival retraction cord, etc.).
- Take dental and medical history and perform accurate dental charting.
- Take and develop dental radiographs of diagnostic quality.
- Pour and trim clinically acceptable models.
- Disinfect and sterilize all instruments, equipment, and surfaces between patients.
- Open and maintain patient files in good order.
- Take and triage patient telephone calls.
- Perform preventive maintenance procedures on equipment and instrumentation.
- Maintain the dental supplies inventory.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and aseptic clinical environment.
- Maintain a log of ordered dental prosthetics.
- Participate in quality management activities.
- Occasionally, the supervisor may assign other appropriate duties and responsibilities.
- Provide patients with instruction for oral care following dental treatments.
Hourly rate depends on experience level and certification:
- On-the-Job Training (no prior experience) $18.50 to $19.00
- Experienced Dental Assistant $19.00 to $20.30
- Experienced and Certified Dental Assistant $20.30 to $24.30
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Six months of Dental Assisting experience
- X-ray certification, required
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs to produce correspondence, documents, presentations, records, and spreadsheets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Expert knowledge of medical office operations, preferred - Familiarity with role of FQHCs in the community, preferred
