Senior Transportation Construction Inspector
Senior Transportation Construction Inspector – HDR (Senior Construction Inspector, Technician Level II or higher) – located in Raleigh, NC. HDR’s Field Services team looks for an experienced professional to lead and perform construction engineering and inspection duties on highway/bridge projects under NCDOT policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Lead all inspection and documentation for highway or bridge construction projects.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Identify discrepancies or conflicts within contract documents and enforce compliance.
- Manage and mentor other inspectors.
- Travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections throughout North Carolina, with preference for candidates close to geographic location.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience inspecting transportation projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Work requires travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections.
- Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law.
- NCDOT experience preferred.
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Management experience a plus.
- Local candidates preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent. (Candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma.)
- A minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must successfully pass drug‑screening procedures prior to hiring and be subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing.
