EMT, AEMT, Paramedic

Overview

Performs intermediate technical work rescuing and transporting the sick and injured, administering emergency medical care at the EMT - Basic level, EMT - Intermediate level and paramedic level. Related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Emergency Medical Services Paramedic Crew Chief and Emergency Medical Services Paramedic Supervisor.

• EMT - Basic level Education and Experience - High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• EMT - Intermediate level Education and Experience - High school diploma or GED and less than one year experience working as an emergency medical technician, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Paramedic Education and Experience - High school diploma or GED and one to three years' experience working as an emergency medical technician, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates/Technical degree preferred.
• Certifications and credentials North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate certification.
• Credentials Local credentialing/re-credentialing.
• Training Emergency Vehicle Operations training.
• Training Hazmat Awareness training.
• Training Incident Command System (ICS) training.
• Licenses Valid Driver’s License upon employment. Valid driver’s license in the State of North Carolina within 60 days of employment.
