** Description of Work
** Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  
• Management of Zoo's Security Team across 3 shifts; 24/7 coverage.  
• Oversight of emergency and non-emergency protocols and procedures.  
• Considerable knowledge of National Incident Command System structure and the ability to function as Incident Commander.

**** Recruitment Range: $50,633 - $63,660

** Candidates meet the minimum qualifications of this position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. Vacancy specific knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) and/or management preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following are preferred:
** Management Prefers:
*** Demonstrated knowledge of security operations, and emergency and non-emergency protocols and procedures in a large public facility.
* Demonstrated experience in establishing and advancing internal programs and processes.
* Must have or the ability to obtain EMT within one year of employment.
* Experience supervising and managing a large team.
* Demonstrated knowledge of digital radio programming.
** Position/Physical Requirements
*** 8:30 am – 5:30 pm April – October with 1 hour lunch    8:30 am – 5:00 pm November
- March with 30-minute lunch
* Weekends and Holiday work in peak season are frequent.
* Designated as mandatory/essential to Zoo operations; must demonstrate a willingness to work extended shift hours during emergency and adverse weather events, and to work weekends and/or overtime work as needed to meet the business needs of the Zoo.
* Perform moderately heavy physical labor, stand and walk for extended periods of time in all types of weather.
* React calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
* Utilize a methodical and logical approach to investigate and enforce park rules and regulations.
* Perform multiple tasks and solve problems.
* Effectively resolve conflict, delegate, and build cohesive teams.
* Must meet DNCR Fleet Safety Guidelines and have ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
* Communicate effectively through interpersonal interactions and written reports.
* Ability to engage with and communicate with staff, vendors and the public, electronically and in person, under normal and stressful situations effectively and tactfully.
* Work independently with no supervision.
