Position SummaryRandolph Electric Membership Corporation (REMC) is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Billing & Rates Analyst to join our Finance team. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely utility billing for our members while supporting rate analysis, revenue forecasting, and cost-of-service initiatives. The ideal candidate enjoys working with data, solving complex billing issues, and collaborating across departments.
Key Responsibilities- Execute the weekly billing process from start to finish, including pulling meter readings, processing and analyzing usage data, reviewing pre-bill edit reports, and completing all error-checking procedures prior to running live bill programs
- Ensure billing data, including billing determinants imported from applicable systems and the rates applied, are accurate and up to date
- Stay informed of developments impacting rates and ensure compliance with REMC policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations
- Investigate unusual meter readings and work collaboratively with Energy Services, Metering, and other departments to resolve irregularities and discrepancies
- Analyze billing and consumption trends and assist with electric revenue forecasting
- Analyze rate structures and rate impacts and provide support for cost-of-service studies
- Explain rate structures and billing details to members and internal stakeholders and resolve billing questions as needed
- Coordinate with Communications on updates to bill messages and bill inserts
- Generate revenue and billing reports, maintain daily balancing reports, and ensure customer billing activity is accurately integrated with the general ledger
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field
- A two-year degree with equivalent experience will be considered
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in billing, accounting, or financial analysis
- Knowledge of electric utility billing and rate making principles preferred
- Experience with electric distribution cooperative operations preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Point
