Rural Surveyor – Ashby-de-la-Zouch & Atherstone

Full Time | 37.5 hours per week

About Us

Since 1888, Howkins & Harrison LLP have been trusted advisors to landowners, farmers, estates, investors and developers across the Midlands and beyond. Our reputation is built on deep agricultural knowledge, commercial awareness and long-standing client relationships.

With seven regional offices and a London presence, we combine heritage with ambition - delivering forward-thinking advice while remaining firmly rooted in the rural communities we serve.

We are now seeking a talented and motivated MRICS Chartered Surveyor to join our Rural North team.

The Opportunity

This is a varied, client-facing role offering genuine breadth and responsibility within an established rural department.

Based between our Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Atherstone offices, you will advise a diverse client base ranging from private landowners and farming families to estates and national developers.

Your work will include:

  • Rural and residential agency from appraisal through to negotiation and completion
  • RICS Red Book valuations across agricultural, residential and development assets
  • Secured lending, probate, tax planning and portfolio restructuring advice
  • Agricultural support scheme applications and management
  • Estate and land management including FBTs, GK agreements and Contract Farming arrangements
  • Rent reviews, lease renewals and tenant negotiations
  • Planning applications and development advice
  • Option and promotion agreements
  • Farm dispersal auctions and collective sales

This is not a narrow or siloed position. It is a hands‑on role offering autonomy, responsibility and the opportunity to build long‑term relationships within the rural sector.

As your career develops, so too will your client base and influence within the team.

About You
  • MRICS qualified
  • Ideally a Registered RICS Valuer
  • Strong knowledge of farming and agricultural practice
  • Commercially aware and confident with clients
  • Organised, proactive and detail-focused
  • Full UK driving licence

We are looking for someone who wants to build a long‑term rural career within a respected and growing firm.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary (commensurate with experience)
  • Car allowance & mobile phone allowance
  • 25 days’ holiday (increasing with service) + your birthday off
  • Pension scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 GP access
  • Enhanced family leave policies
  • Life assurance cover

If you’re looking for a varied and rewarding rural surveying role within a supportive and ambitious practice, we would love to hear from you.
