Jr Full Stack Developer

Overview

Big Bear.ai is seeking a Jr. Full Stack Developer to support the modernization and ongoing maintenance of CBP information systems. This is a great opportunity for an early-career developer to apply and grow their skills in JAVA/JEE development while working on mission-critical government systems. You'll gain hands-on experience with modern tools and frameworks, while collaborating with experienced engineers in an Agile environment.

What you will do

• Assist in the design, development, and testing of JEE software applications
• Collaborate with senior developers and stakeholders to understand requirements and refine solutions
• Use modern software engineering tools and frameworks such as Eclipse, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Docker, and Atlassian Products (Jira, Confluence)
• Contribute to Agile development practices including sprint planning, demonstrations, and retrospectives
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to ensure quality and maintainability

What you need to have

• Bachelor's Degree and 2 to 5 years of experience;
  Master's Degree and 0 to 3 years of experience; 8 to 10 years with no degree
• Foundational knowledge of Java and JEE technologies
• Basic front-end development skills with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and familiarity with XML/JSON
• Exposure to JavaScript frameworks such as JQuery, Angular, or React (academic or project experience counts)
• Understanding of relational databases and basic SQL queries
• Familiarity with object-oriented programming principles and software design concepts
• Interest in learning Agile development practices and modern Dev Ops tools

What we'd like you to have

• Project-based experience developing applications using Java/JEE
• Familiarity with Spring Boot, Tomcat, or similar frameworks/servers
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS or similar)
• Experience with Git or other version control systems
• A passion for continuous learning, problem-solving, and working collaboratively in a team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
