OverviewQTS is a global digital infrastructure leader that builds, operates, and designs advanced data centers. We seek an experienced network planner to drive fiber connectivity strategy, due diligence, and commercial negotiations for our data center expansion across the U.S.
Who You Are- Strong understanding of network engineering and relationships with U.S. fiber providers.
- Business acumen and technical versatility in gathering connectivity requirements, conducting fiber due diligence, preparing documentation, performing cost analysis, and negotiating commercial terms.
- Experience with metro, long‑haul, and submarine networks throughout the U.S.
- Proficient in financial modeling for fiber leases, dedicated internet leases, IRUs, and other deal structures.
- Excellent communication skills to present findings to executive leadership and cross‑functional teams.
- High level of organization, able to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Willingness to travel for site due diligence trips and industry conferences.
- Proficient in Smartsheet, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Earth, Fiber Locator, Peering DB, and project management software.
As the Senior Network Planner, you will own the full connectivity solution lifecycle, deliver unbiased site‑by‑site fiber connectivity views critical to acquisition decisions, and influence the business strategy of QTS Data Center development.
What You Will Do- Establish and maintain a repeatable fiber due diligence program supporting QTS data center development projects across the U.S.
- Own and document customer connectivity requirements to pre‑qualify sites for specific use cases.
- Collaborate with internal teams, fiber providers, and customers to design cost‑effective, well‑engineered connectivity solutions.
- Lead business meetings, identify, and communicate connectivity risks and challenges.
- Produce consistent connectivity solutions output and maintain regular communication with parallel teams and executive leadership.
- Manage vendor relationships across technical, business, and executive levels with U.S. fiber providers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree and more than ten years of experience in telecom, data center, or cloud infrastructure.
- In‑depth knowledge of metro, long‑haul, and submarine networks across the U.S.
- Ability to articulate data center fiber connectivity best practices and solve complex engineering challenges.
- Proficiency in interpreting and evaluating telecom contract addenda.
- Strong documentation skills for internal technical leadership and senior executives.
- Organizational excellence managing multiple priorities.
