Medical Assistant – Inova Children's Multispecialty Ashburn

Inova Children's Multispecialty Ashburn is looking for a dedicated Medical Assistant 1 to join the team. This role will be full‑time, day shift from Monday – Friday. This is a brand‑new location scheduled to open in early January 2026. Candidates hired prior to the opening should be comfortable training temporarily at the Fairfax location until the Ashburn site opens.

Job Responsibilities
- Performs general patient care responsibilities including checking schedules and organizing patient flow; recording patient blood pressure, height, and weight; accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms; assisting patients as needed with walking, collecting specimens, phlebotomy, administering injections, assisting physicians/nurses; preparing patients for examination and treatment; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information.
- Performs pre‑visiting planning as indicated by the physician for the vulnerable population.
- Fulfills clerical responsibilities which may include sending/receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/x‑ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, completing forms/requisitions, organizing medical records, scanning necessary medical information into the chart, and instructing anb patients in basic testing requirements such as clean‑catch urine, EKG, phlebotomy, and pap tests.
- Fulfills environmental responsibilities which may include setting up instruments and equipment according to protocol, cleaning exam/procedure rooms and instruments between patient visits, ordering, sorting, and storing supplies, restocking rooms, properly disposing of expired medications and supplies, adhering to sterile techniques and universal precautions, following point‑of‑care testing guidelines, ensuring equipment is in proper working order, performing daily equipment checks, and reporting patient safety issues to the physician and practice manager in a timely manner.
- Communicates problems relating to patients and/or staff with the practice manager in an objective and timely manner.
- Actively participates in clinic huddles and offers suggestions to better meet the needs of the patients and clinic flow, as well as participating in quality improvement initiatives.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
- Education:
High School or GED. - Experience:
Previous experience in a medical group practice or similar situation preferred. - Certification:
Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) within 6 months of hire.
- 1 year of clinical practice experience.
- Bilingual Spanish.
