Responsibilities
The Global Data Center Engineering team serves the company’s global regions with a focus on enabling business growth by adding new data center capacities, ensuring continuous stability of engineering systems.
The team is geographically based, staffed locally to service each region, collaborating with other project teams to select sites, negotiate contracts, design, and build out new facilities.
- Act as a self‑motivated data center engineer expert for Americas regional projects.
- Provide subject‑matter expertise for regional projects and report directly to the global director of engineering.
- Participate in site selection, contractual evaluations, design solutions, and support project execution from construction to final acceptance.
- Support regional operations for incident response and root‑cause analysis.
- Participate in R&D research projects with the global team.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of power and cooling designs, and ability to calculate capacity requirements.
- Understanding of Power and Cooling Redundancy implementations (e.g., 2N, N+1, Distributed Redundant, UTI, TIA‑942, ASHRAE standards).
- Experience with Cooling Redundancy and Concurrent Maintainability (e.g., N+1, N+2).
- Mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience with generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, UPS, sub‑distribution systems, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to clarity and detail.
- Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineer certifications.
- 4 years or more in data center engineering.
- Experience in the following areas:
- Lead or influence engineering design and architecture teams to complete Data Center Conceptual, 30%, 60%, and 90% detailed design processes.
- Apply Data Center Tiering Standards (e.g., TIA‑942 Rated 3, Uptime Tier
3) in detailed design. - Lead or influence construction teams to complete Data Hall fit‑out, including IT services coordination, power, and cooling planning.
- Lead or influence testing and commissioning teams to perform L1‑to‑L5 commissioning tests, validate design intent, and resolve technical problems.
