Equinix Global Energy Team is responsible for the full lifecycle of energy strategy, procurement, operations, and analytics for Equinix global energy programs. Our global footprint includes more than 280 datacenters across the globe with more than 500K interconnections and more than 310 Fortune 500 companies utilizing our services.

As part of the Equinix Global Energy Analytics Team, you will join a team of professionals responsible for building the data platforms and business insights to enable the Energy team to advance Equinix’s datacenter energy procurement, operations, growth, sustainability programs, and portfolio management. Data-driven decision making and a diversity of perspectives is at the core of the Energy Team. We take a collaborative approach to problem solving with focus on solutions created out of diverse experiences and capabilities.

The new Director, Energy Portfolio Analytics will be focused on building out our energy analytics capabilities while also assembling a small team of energy professionals that can create and refine processes and modeling to drive business analytics and actionable insights related to energy pricing, scenario planning, and modeling how our current and future portfolio of load and generation will perform.

A successful candidate will have experience leading high-performing teams, strong leadership and change management skills, with a strong understanding of energy forecasting, commercial transaction modeling, settlements and generation forecasting.

Responsibilities
  • Team Building & Management:
    We are seeking an individual that can both build a program and a team while driving at full speed to meet our significant capacity delivery goals. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing the energy analytics methods and models as well as engaging with external vendors for market inputs, long-term energy forecasts, and support.
  • Cross Team & Cross Functional Coordination:
    The successful candidate will know how to collaborate across internal cross-functional teams, manage external stakeholders to deliver actionable energy analytics that will allow Equinix to innovate new energy transactions while maintaining effective power pricing for our customers.
  • Market Intelligence and Rates:
    In collaboration with the Energy Operations Team and Energy Regulatory/Policy development, maintain forward scenario planning for energy markets across the globe.
  • Benchmarks and Metrics:
    Leads the development and implementation of standardized methods and processes that support data collection, validation, and evaluation of operating characteristics, realised costs, and forecasts in pursuit of continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business, Financial Accounting, Energy Markets, Energy Resource Planning, Energy Analytics Programming or related field AND 5+ years experience in Energy Analytics.
  • 5+ years of people management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in energy infrastructure delivery for a data center or large energy consumer with global responsibilities.
  • 5+ years direct experience with utility long-range planning, production cost modeling, load research or rate making.
  • 5+ years direct experience in data science or statistical modeling.

The targeted pay range for this position in the following locations is:

United States - Dallas Infomart Office (DAI): 155, USD / Annual

United States - Chicago Office (CHO): 171, USD / Annual
