Provides and is accountable for the planning, instruction, assessment, communication, interpersonal relations, safety, and management of a Dual-Language Immersion classroom.

• Plan and implement a Dual Language Immersion instructional program that provides appropriate learning experiences for each student.
• Establish a safe and supportive learning environment that allows each student to demonstrate agency, ownership, and reflection.
• Design and implement authentic and engaging learning experiences using the Virginia Standards of Learning and the LCPS curriculum to maximize student achievement using a variety of tools and instructional resources.
• Personalize instruction based on the needs of students.
• Assess student growth and progress related to educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
• Adhere to the LCPS Grading and Assessment policies and regulations.
• Monitor and support student behavior.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, students, and community members to promote and support student learning.
• Direct the work of teaching assistants, student teachers, and volunteers.
• Participate in the school’s professional learning community to deepen the understanding of curriculum, content, competencies, assessment, and the developmental needs of students.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Licenses and

Certifications:

Must possess or be eligible for a Collegiate Professional, Postgraduate Professional, or Provisional license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia; endorsement in Spanish preK-12 or Dual Language (target language) PK-6.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Effective written and oral communication in both Spanish and English.
• Knowledge of content, curriculum, and pedagogy of elementary-level instruction.
• Excellent academic language model in Spanish.
