Construction Safety Manager – Owner’s Representative (Data Center Build)Location: Ashburn, VA
Industry: Mission Critical / Data Center Construction
Compliance Management International (CMI) is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to serve as an Owner's Representative for a large‑scale data center construction project located in Ashburn, VA. This role is ideal for a proactive safety professional with deep expertise in mission‑critical environments who can lead, influence, and support construction teams in achieving world‑class safety performance. You will serve as the safety liaison between the owner, general contractor, and subcontractors—ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, standards, and internal protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Represent the Owner’s interests on‑site, providing oversight of contractor safety programs, procedures, and practices.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and walkthroughs to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and local/regional codes.
- Engage with general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to promote and enforce safe work practices.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to site personnel on EHS topics as needed.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional project teams to support safe and efficient execution of work.
- Lead or participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the development of corrective actions.
- Ensure all work activities align with the Owner’s health and safety policies and project requirements.
- Review contractor documentation including safety plansσύ, JSAs, permits, and logs.
- Support commissioning and operations handover processes with an emphasis on safe startup procedures.
- 7+ years of relevant data center construction safety experience or 10+ years of general construction safety experience.
- Proven ability to work with diverse teams including construction managers, engineers, contractors, and vendors.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and project management skills.
- Deep understanding of mission critical / data center construction, both greenfield and live environments.
- Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and standards: OSHA 1910 & 1926, NFPA 70E, ISO 45001, and local code equivalents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement and reporting.
- Proficiency in G‑Suite tools and familiarity with construction information management platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- OSHA 30 Construction certification within the last 5 years. സ്ത്രീ

- CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
- CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)
- Must be able to walk large construction sites and navigate uneven terrain and ladders/stairs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and ტერ lift up to 30 lbs for extended periods.
- Tolerance for working outdoors and in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, noise). linilian
