Position: Special Education Teacher [80016]

We’re partnering with a school district in Conejos County, Colorado to hire a dedicated Special Education Teacher for the 2025–2026 school year
. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact supporting students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive, collaborative environment.

The Special Education Teacher will provide individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role includes designing and implementing differentiated lessons, collaborating with general education teachers, monitoring student progress, and ensuring compliance with all state and federal special education regulations. The ideal candidate is a compassionate, organized educator who is passionate about helping every student reach their full potential.

  • Position: Special Education Teacher
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 32.5 hours per week
  • School Year: 2025–2026
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet a variety of academic, behavioral, and life skill needs.
  • Provide direct instruction in specialized areas based on student IEPs.
  • Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff.
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with families to share updates on student growth and goals.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Use data to guide instruction and IEP development.
  • Support student transition planning and preparation for post-school outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Valid Colorado Teaching License or eligibility for licensure with a Special Education endorsement.
  • Meets all state and federal Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) requirements under IDEA and ESSA.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of a state‑approved educator preparation program in special education.
  • Successful completion of the Colorado State Board of Education‑approved content exams (e.g., Praxis for SPED).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
