Why We Need You

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team and support the accurate preparation of project estimates. Your role is critical in helping us bid competitively while maintaining profitability and delivering quality projects. You will analyze project specifications, coordinate with subcontractors, and prepare cost estimates for both labor and materials. Your precision and ability to analyze market trends will ensure our bids are accurate, competitive, and aligned with our project goals.

Your Regular Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and time requirements.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to determine the scope of work and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop detailed takeoffs and quantify all required materials, equipment, and labor.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project goals and schedules.
  • Coordinate and prepare bid submissions, ensuring all required documentation, pricing, and supporting details are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Analyze and compare subcontractor and supplier quotes to determine the best fit for project needs.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to gather quotes and clarify project requirements.
  • Track the status of submitted bids and maintain accurate records of bid documents, addendums, and revisions.
Cost Analysis and Budgeting
  • Assist in developing preliminary budgets for potential projects, providing financial insights to support decision-making.
  • Update and maintain an accurate database of historical pricing, cost data, and industry trends to improve future estimates.
  • Conduct post-bid reviews with the project team to ensure that estimates reflect actual project costs and to identify areas for improvement.
Collaboration and Coordination
  • Work closely with the operations and project management teams to ensure that estimates are aligned with project execution strategies.
  • Assist in identifying potential project risks and suggesting mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings to communicate estimate details and clarify assumptions with the project team.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to stay updated on market conditions and pricing trends.
  • Stay current with industry developments, building codes, and pricing trends to ensure that estimates remain competitive.
  • Suggest improvements to estimating processes and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Utilize estimating software and technology tools to streamline the estimating process.
Your Team for Collaboration & Support

You’ll report directly to the Chief Estimator or Estimating Manager and work closely with the project management and operations teams. You will collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather pricing information and ensure the accuracy of estimates.

Your ability to collaborate with the project team and communicate clearly with subcontractors and suppliers will help ensure project success. Your efforts will directly contribute to our company’s ability to secure new business and maintain strong client relationships.

Technical Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 3-5 years of experience in estimating within the construction industry, ideally in commercial, residential, or specialty subcontracting projects.
  • 3-5 years construction field experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in using estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, Plan Swift, Heavy Bid, B2W) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, safety regulations/requirements, materials, and industry pricing.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
