Light Equipment Operator - Artesia
Brief
Description:
This position works in a crew environment to assist the Road Department with the maintenance of County roads utilizing a variety of equipment and meets all of the requirements for Truck Driver/Laborer.
- Operate compaction equipment to achieve desired compaction levels for sub‑base, base, and surface construction of un‑surfaced, surfaced, and chip‑sealed roads.
- Dig, grade, and install drainage structures in right‑of‑way entrances or under roads to prevent or relieve flooding and washouts.
- Install cattle guards and footers as directed.
- Perform daily maintenance check lists of equipment, including DOT walk‑around, pre‑trip, and operation inspections.
- Work independently and respond to schedule changes directed by Road Managers in Carlsbad, Artesia, and Sandpoint.
- Attend job‑related meetings and perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Starting hiring salary: $21.00 - $23.18 per hour DOE.
