Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with at least three years of Med/Surg-Telemetry experience for a night shift inpatient role requiring a NM or compact RN license and ACLS/BLS certifications.

• Work in an inpatient Med/Surg unit within an acute care setting
• Night shift schedule; 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM
• Patient ratios typically 1:3-5 on a 26-bed unit
• Unit cares for medical, surgical, and progressive care patients
• May provide care for higher acuity patients including those on drips and with invasive monitoring
• Potential to rotate within the PCU area as needed based on competency
• Use of Mindray cardiac monitors and Tru Bridge - Evident (CPSI) EMR
• Occasional titration of drips including insulin, amiodarone, and levofed
• Every other weekend and possible holiday rotation required
• No floating required for RNs
• Responsibilities include providing care to acutely ill Med/Surg/PCU patients and managing titratable drips
• Nurses are supported by a charge nurse with a lighter assignment, nursing aides, and in-house respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Designated 1-2 day orientation with a preceptor depending on experience
• Pre-employment modules must be completed prior to working, with approximately 20 hours required
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• May be asked to help with Accu Checks and respiratory equipment as needed

• Active NM or compact RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of recent Med/Surg-Telemetry nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry
• Experience with titrating drips and maintaining intubation preferred
• Previous PCU, stepdown, or LTAC experience is preferred
