Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in an acute care Critical Access Hospital, requiring 3 years of MS-Tele experience and an active NM or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care Med/Surg unit with 26 beds
- Patient population includes medical, surgical, and progressive care (PCU) cases
- Nurse to patient ratios range from 1:3 to 1:5
- Occasional rotation to PCU within the department
- Shift is 12 hours, nights, with flexibility required in scheduling
- Weekend requirement is every other weekend
- Possible holiday coverage included in rotation
- Occasional management of patients on drips such as insulin, amiodarone, and levofed
- Use of Mindray cardiac monitors and required ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
- RT equipment and staff available 24/7, management of respiratory support devices as needed
- Charting with Tru Bridge - Evident and CPSI EMR systems
- Responsibilities include managing medical, surgical, and PCU patients, titrating drips, and performing Accu Checks
- Collaborate with nurse aides for patient care including ADLs, I/Os, and transfers
- Structured orientation with 1-2 days of preceptor support and required completion of online modules before floor work
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Travelers are not assigned to charge nurse roles
- First-time travelers will be considered for this assignment
- Currently no floating of RN staff, though CNAs may float for sitter shifts
- Hospital is advancing toward Level IV trauma designation with expanded critical capabilities
- Active NM or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of MS-Tele experience required
- Ability to titrate multiple drip protocols and maintain intubated patients is preferred
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Preferred experience in PCU, stepdown, or LTAC settings
