Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

• Every other weekend requirement

• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation

• No call or standby requirements

• No floating requirements

• 1-2 day orientation with preceptor depending on needs

• Complete mandatory modules prior to working (approximately 20 hours, with up to 6 hours billable)

• Maintain 1:3 nurse to patient ratio

• Must have 5 years of emergency department experience

• Must be able to mix and titrate critical drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Epinephrine, and Insulin

• Must demonstrate critical thinking skills and ability to work independently

• Required to read and interpret telemetry strips and EKGs

• May draw labs if needed when phlebotomy unavailable

• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS, NRP, PALS, TNCC

• Dress code:
Navy blue scrubs, jackets without hoods permitted

• Handle cases ranging from minor injuries to major traumas, STEMIs, and strokes

• Treat oil field related injuries including crush injuries, burns, and traumatic amputations

• Work with one ED physician available 24/7

• Travelers not required to take charge nurse responsibilities

Facility:

This community hospital operates as a critical access hospital currently working toward Trauma Level 4 designation. The emergency department features 5 beds and 2 trauma bays, treating an average of 40-50 patients daily. The facility offers more capabilities than typically expected for a small hospital, with 24/7 X-ray and CT services, ultrasound, lab, and MRI capabilities. The emergency department is supported by in-house security, respiratory therapy, and house supervision around the clock, with a walk-in family practice clinic attached to handle lower acuity patients.
