Saahas for Cause is a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, committed to improving the quality of life for the South Asian immigrant community. Through its four key chapters—Older Adult Wellness, Women Wellness, Youth Empowerment, and Community Health—Saahas for Cause offers programs that provide wellness support, education, and empowerment initiatives. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Community Health Worker for a full-time, on-site role in Artesia, CA. As a Community Health Worker, you will engage with the South Asian community to provide health education, navigate resources, case management, and connect individuals to essential services. Daily responsibilities include conducting outreach efforts, facilitating wellness and education programs, organizing events, supporting case management, and collaborating with community partners to address public health issues.
You will also promote community well-being through active participation in Saahas for Cause’s Community Health initiatives such as webinars, food drives, and educational programs.
- Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of community health and wellness programs for survivors, older adults, youth, and families.
- Coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, venue arrangements, participant recruitment, and resource management.
- Support project leads in tracking outcomes, meeting deliverables, and preparing program reports.
- Build and maintain partnerships with community leaders, faith-based institutions, local law enforcement, educational entities, and service providers.
- Conduct outreach and awareness activities on domestic violence, intimate partner violence, immigration-related challenges, and access to legal or public benefits.
- Facilitate engagement in Saahas for Cause’s programs and promote empowerment and resilience within the South Asian community.
- Organize culturally sensitive workshops and educational sessions on preventive care, mental health, nutrition, financial literacy, and job readiness.
- Develop and distribute multilingual educational materials to ensure accessibility and cultural relevance.
- Research public health trends, identify emerging community needs, and recommend new initiatives or partnerships
- Maintain accurate documentation, including time sheets, data collection, and outreach records.
- Attend training, meetings, and feedback sessions to enhance knowledge and improve program delivery.
- Bilingual skills in English and a South Asian language are highly beneficial.
- Proactive and empathetic approach to assisting individuals facing socio-economic, cultural, or health-related challenges.
- Proficiency in using technology such as social media, email, Microsoft Office Suite, and virtual platforms for outreach and program management.
- Previous experience in nonprofit work or community health is a plus.
