Clinical Research Nurse
Find your calling at Mercy! The Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) is responsible for coordination of research studies conducted by Mercy Research. The CRN performs day‑to‑day operational tasks related to clinical trials, including volunteer recruitment, drug/device/supply inventory maintenance, and collaboration with physicians, nurses, office staff, patients, and clinical monitors. Duties also encompass collection, compilation, documentation, and analysis of clinical research data while following local, state and federal regulations.
The CRN assists in training and preceptor duties, increases study load and complexity compared to the Associate Clinical Research Nurse role, and supports communication and relationship building with sponsors and CROs. All responsibilities are carried out in alignment with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards.

Clinical Research Nurse
- Education
- Nursing Diploma, Nursing Associate’s degree, or Nursing Bachelor’s degree
- Licensure
- Registered Nurse with a valid license in the state of practice
- Experience
- 2 years nursing experience for a Bachelor’s degree, or 3 years for an Associate’s degree or diploma program
- Experience may be gained through prior roles, college degrees, or a combination of professional and educational experiences
- Basic patient assessments (vital signs, spirometry, ECGs, phlebotomy, blood glucose monitoring) or willingness to learn
- Excellent communication skills for face‑to‑face interactions with healthcare professionals and the public
- Respectful and assertive interaction with health professionals
- Working knowledge of computer applications (Internet, Microsoft Office, modems, printers, and accessories)
- Proficiency in mathematics and the metric system
- Effective teamwork and independent work with high problem‑identification and problem‑solving efficiency
- Phlebotomy experience
- 2 years of clinical research experience
