Job Summary

The Middle School Math & Social Studies Teacher (2026–2027 School Year) is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in mathematics and social studies for the 2026–2027 academic year
. This position supports students’ academic, social, and personal development by fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and an appreciation for mathematical reasoning and social understanding. The teacher creates a structured, inclusive, and respectful learning environment and collaborates with colleagues to support student success and school-wide initiatives.

Job Responsibilities Instructional Duties

Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality instruction in mathematics and social studies aligned with curriculum standards.

Teach assigned math courses (such as general math, Pre-Algebra, or Algebra) and social studies courses (such as history, geography, civics, and related disciplines).

Design lessons that promote critical thinking, inquiry, and active learning using a variety of instructional strategies.

Incorporate technology, manipulatives, primary sources, project-based learning, and real-world applications into instruction.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, and learning styles of students.

Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments and use results to guide instruction.

Provide timely and meaningful feedback and communicate student progress with parents/guardians and school staff.

Create and maintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and engagement.

Establish clear expectations for behavior and consistently enforce school policies.

Support students’ academic growth, responsibility, and self-discipline.

Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times, including transitions, lunch, recess, and field trips, as assigned.

Professional Responsibilities

Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, interdisciplinary projects, and student support initiatives.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.

Maintain accurate records, including lesson plans, grades, and student documentation, in accordance with school policies.

Communicate professionally and effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.

Uphold professional standards of conduct, confidentiality, and reliability.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, Social Studies, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.

Valid teaching certification or licensure preferred or required, depending on school or state guidelines.

Experience teaching middle school students or working with adolescents preferred.

Strong knowledge of math and social studies content and effective instructional practices.

Excellent classroom management, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.

Ability to create engaging learning experiences and support diverse learners.

Successful completion of required background checks and training.
