We’re seeking a compassionate, creative, and highly organized Engagement Specialist MC to lead the In the Moment engagement program in our Memory Care community. In this role, you’ll design meaningful resident experiences, mentor and coach care staff on dementia engagement best practices, manage key well-being programs, coordinate with families and partners, and ensure our Memory Care neighborhood is vibrant, stimulating, and supportive.
You’ll serve as the primary champion of resident engagement—creating opportunities that support our 6 Principles of Well-Being and help every resident feel known, valued, and connected.
What You’ll Do- Manage and maintain the Resident Well-Being Binder, including Get to Know Me, Resident Interest Worksheets, and “25 Things” resources
- Ensure the implementation and ongoing success of In the Moment Signature Programs (Taste & Tell, Philanthropy Project, Hydration Stations, Essential Health Program, etc.)
- Lead and oversee daily engagement programs, ensuring a healthy mix of large group, small group, individual, and parallel programming
- Train, coach, and mentor Memory Care staff on engagement approaches and self-directed activity techniques
- Collaborate in interdisciplinary meetings and partner with Health & Wellness on care conferences and resident assessments when needed
- Work with Engagement teams across the community to ensure Memory Care residents receive engagement opportunities tailored to their cognitive needs
- Coordinate with the Culinary Director on monthly Taste & Tell events, food function sheets, and ensuring a calm, supportive dining experience
- Review the 24-hour log daily and conduct safety checks to ensure a secure environment aligned with regulatory requirements
- Build strong communication and relationships with resident family members
- Ensure all engagement activities are conducted safely and support a culture of teamwork
- Perform other duties as assigned
- A genuine passion for advocating for individuals living with dementia
- 4+ years of management experience with employee oversight and customer relations preferred
- 3+ years of experience in a dementia-care setting preferred
- Background in recreation, occupational therapy, art or music therapy, hospitality, teaching, coaching, health & wellness, or related fields is highly valued
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, Social Services, Geriatrics, Communications, Business, or related field preferred (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Ongoing certifications or continuing education in geriatrics, dementia, leadership, activities, or related areas strongly preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and mediation abilities
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor, and inspire staff
- Ability to prioritize, stay organized, resolve conflicts, and follow through
- Self-motivated with strong decision-making ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
- Pleasant, professional, and personable demeanor
- CDL preferred
