Base Pay Range$/yr - $/yr
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hands‑on, analog-focused design, with expertise in precision test and measurement circuitry. This position will be responsible for the next-generation design of measurement hardware while at the same time supporting legacy products and mentoring application engineers in the design of custom test solutions.
Primary Responsibilities- Design and develop new test and measurement hardware offering more advanced and efficient capabilities
- Design and develop new hardware features for Check Sum’s leading technologies – In-Circuit Test, In-System Programming, Functional Test, Parallel Test Solutions
- Coordinate with Software Engineering and Sales teams to develop new technologies
- Work with production team to improve internal processes
- Manage projects and timelines to meet company objectives while staying within budget and schedule
- Provide top level customer support
- Provide mentorship to application engineers performing the day‑to‑day production work of creating test solutions for specific customer products
- Prefer a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
- Must have 20+ years of experience in hardware design
- Advanced knowledge of mixed analog and digital electronic circuits, including schematic analysis and design, component qualification, datasheet analysis, and hands‑on experience with board‑level debug
- Advanced knowledge of mixed analog and digital design components and techniques, including operational amplifiers, filters, DSP, ADC, DAC, memory devices, high‑speed communication, and serial communication buses (I2C, SPI, JTAG, RS485, USB, etc.)
- Background in PCB manufacturing industry, electronic test equipment or test engineering, or experience with bed‑of‑nail style testers is a plus
- Ability to manage the entire lifecycle of products, from inception, through design, testing, production integration, to final production release, service and post‑mortem analysis
- Experience designing hardware that will integrate with embedded firmware or PC software
- Experience with Eagle or other schematic capture and PCB layout software
- Familiarity with the use of digital meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and power supplies
- Familiarity with design simulation tools such as LTSpice
- Knowledge of both PC and embedded programming or scripting languages such as C, C++, assembly, Verilog, VHDL, or Python is a plus
- Understanding of Microsoft Windows and related tools
- Strong analytical skills and an enthusiasm for solving problems
- Must be a team player with strong project and people management skills
- Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills
