Project Engineer – Heavy Civil Construction
Location: Arlington, WA
Are you an early- to mid-career heavy civil professional who wants to be closer to how projects are actually built?
We’re recruiting on behalf of a growing heavy civil construction and utility systems contractor in the Pacific Northwest. Known for quality execution, integrity, and long‑term relationships, this team delivers critical infrastructure projects across communities from north of Seattle to Blaine.
This is an opportunity to build a strong foundation in heavy civil construction while working directly with experienced project managers, superintendents, and field crews.
The OpportunityAs a Project Engineer, you’ll support the successful delivery of heavy civil and public works projects from preconstruction through closeout. You’ll be involved in the details that keep projects moving including coordination, documentation, cost tracking, and field support.
This is more than an entry‑level role. You’ll:
- Gain hands‑on exposure to heavy civil construction operations
- Learn how projects are planned, built, and closed out
- Work closely with both office and field teams
- Build a clear path toward future Project Manager or Superintendent roles
You’ll be trusted with responsibility, supported by experienced mentors, and given room to grow.
What You’ll Be Doing- Assist project managers with day‑to‑day project coordination and reporting
- Support project startup, submittals, RFIs, and document control
- Track quantities, costs, and production for assigned scopes
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors
- Support scheduling, progress tracking, and change management
- Participate in site visits and field coordination meetings
- Help ensure compliance with contract documents and agency requirements
- Maintain accurate project records and closeout documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent field experience)
- 4+ years of experience in heavy civil construction or public works
- Familiarity with earthwork, utilities, roadway, or concrete scopes
- Working knowledge of WSDOT and local jurisdiction standards is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear communicator with a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast‑paced construction environment
- Combination of office and field time
- Local project sites throughout the greater Puget Sound region
- Minimal overnight travel
- Competitive salary based on experience 100k‑130k

Compensation:Compensation:
$100,000-$130,000 per year
